Solution for The Problem of Bulimia Nervosa Family...

In the world today, people focus so much on their outward appearance when what is on the inside is what truly counts. Eating disorders such as bulimia nervosa have become a cultural habit, Research shows family support is the most effective solution for preventing and treating bulimia nervosa. Usually, what causes a person to become bulimic is different for everyone; it could be as simple as uncontrollable diet habits due to a person’s low self esteem. People do not just wake up one day and choose to be bulimic, it usually starts out with dieting(Gilbert 71). When God created each person; He made them perfect in His sight, when people complain about their bodies it grieves His heart. When people look in the mirror and do not like what†¦show more content†¦Since every person looks up to someone; that is the way God created humans, a lot of people look up to the people in the media spotlight. The actors, actresses and singers do not look like normal people, they edit al l the photos to make them look ideal and perfect all the time, but when an average teenage girl looks at her Hollywood role model and sees perfection then looks at herself and sees flaws her self- esteem drops because her outward appearance is not perfect. What all that distractions whether from media or mind games people are starting to lose focus on what is really important, what is on the inside. So, when a person struggles with an eating disorder like bulimia nervosa; most of the time the can leave the problem to themselves and not share it with others, but when a person admits that they have a problem and needs help most of the time the person will go to a close family member or friend for support. Amanda Garder says, â€Å"Families have often been seen as part of the problem, rather than part of the solution† (Garder 3). A person that has the support from a family member or friend can have someone to turn to for help and counsel when they need it. People who have som eone to be there for them can help with the persons self-esteem, knowing that they have someone that loves and cares for them.
